Upcoming opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts as we start a new semester

Welcome back Hokies! I wanted to share a bunch of different opportunites for neat things happening over the next few months. Feel free to email the officers if you have questions, and don't be afraid to go out and do something you've never tried before!

January 26-27: VCU Earth Hacks is hosting an environmental hackathon in Richmond. Registration: earthhacks.vcu.edu

February 7: From VentureOut: "[we] will be hosting the Staffing Recruitment Coordinator from the North Carolina Outward Bound School who will be talking about working at NCOBS and working in the outdoor industry on the evening of Thursday February 7th on the VT campus.  He will still be doing some of his hiring at that point in the year and this can also be a way to broaden staff’s horizons of the opportunities for professional work in the field." Location and time TBA.

February 9-10: Wilderness First Aid course taught here in Blacksburg. https://www.solowfa.com/

March 2-6: Leave No Trace master educator course through the Appalachian Trail Conservancy at Carvins Cove in Roanoke. http://appalachiantrail.org/home/community/events/2019/03/02/default/leave-no-trace-master-educator-course---carvins-cove-va

April 12-14: Discounted Wilderness First Aid and CPR course for Appalachian Trail volunteers. Email Trail Maintenance officer Laura at OCVT-TrailMaint@vt.edu for more and registration.
