The McAfee Knob fire road will be closed to all hikers from January 17, 2022 to February 11. Heavy earthmoving equipment will be used to improve drainage along the primitive roadway. Volunteer spotters will be stationed at key locations to direct hikers to use the Appalachian Trail during the renovation.
