The parking area at the McAfee Knob access on VA Rt. 311 is very crowded on weekends and Roanoke County Police will ticket cars parked on the roadways. Park at the I-81 exit 140 Park-and-Ride to ride the shuttle bus to the trailhead.. The $10 round trip is much less that a parking ticket.
