Description
This will be an out-and-back dayhike. We will leave from campus and carpool to the trailhead. It is 3.5-4 miles out to the cliffs and then back. The trailhead is an hour away so the goal would be meeting up at 8:30, on the trail by 10, at the summit for lunch around 12, back on the trail at 1, back at the trailhead by 3, and then arriving at campus by 4. The trail is a steady incline and you will complete almost 2,000 ft of elevation gain for an AMAZING view at the top. Eat a light breakfast beforehand and get good sleep! Let me know if you have any questions about details.
Location
The Tinker Cliffs trailhead is about 50min away from campus and has parking for around two dozen cars.
Driving Directions
From N Main St. get on Mt. Tabor Rd. Then, turn right onto Catawba Valley Dr., followed by a left onto Catawba Creek Rd. Finally, take a left onto Little Catawba Creek Rd. and it is on the right. You can also look up Tinker Cliffs on Apple or Google Maps for directions.
What You Should Bring
Attendees should be wearing hiking boots and must bring 2 Liters of water, snacks for the hike, and a packed lunch for the summit. It will be cold so I recommend layers that you can shed into a backpack while you hike.
Pet Instructions/Info
Pets must be on a leash and cleaned up after.
