Description
Interested in caving but don't know where to start? Join us for a beginner trip through a neat cave with stream crossings and varied geology. Tawney's Cave is an excellent low-difficulty horizontal cavern located just 20 minutes from campus. It's quite a hike from end to end, but the variety of rooms and feature we pass by will make it worth the distance. I have some extra headlamps, but not nearly enough. Make your best efforts to bring your own headlamp or handheld flashlight, because we cannot enter the cave without everyone carrying a light. Helmets will be provided, though they're designed for trail work rather than caving. If you have a biking helmet, climbing helmet, or caving helmet and wish to bring it, please note that in your sign-up. Feel free to shoot me any detailed questions.
Location
Tawney's Cave, Giles County
What You Should Bring
Bring shoes with good tread, clothes that can get very muddy, a headlamp/flashlight, and water.
