Description
Interested in caving but don't know where to start? Join us for a beginner trip through a neat cave with stream crossings and varied geology. Tawney's Cave is an excellent low-difficulty horizontal cavern located just 20 minutes from campus. It's quite a hike from end to end, but the variety of rooms and feature we pass by will make it worth the distance. I have some extra headlamps, but not nearly enough. Make your best efforts to bring your own headlamp or handheld flashlight, because we cannot enter the cave without everyone carrying a light. Helmets will be provided, though they're designed for trail work rather than caving. If you have a biking helmet, climbing helmet, or caving helmet and wish to bring it, please note that in your sign-up. Feel free to shoot me any further questions; I will be in contact with more details for attendees.
Location
Tawney's Cave, Giles County
What You Should Bring
Bring shoes with good tread, tough and protective clothes that can get very muddy, and water. Low-quality helmets, gloves, and headlamps are available for borrowing, but bringing your own is highly preferred.
