Description
Come join us on this adventure on Virginia’s famous Blue Ridge Parkway! We’ll start with a drive along Blacksburg Road on the way to a cool historic swinging bridge, and then make our way south along the Parkway stopping at a few scenic overlooks along the way. Later, our hike will be around 3.5 miles on a moderately steep but fully paved mountain road (closed to vehicles) to a hidden view of Mill Mountain and the entire Roanoke Valley! This trip will involve about 3 hours of total driving time so please consider helping our drivers out and bring some money for their gas, thanks!
Driving Directions
To our first stop: From College Ave, turn right onto Main St, then a left onto Roanoke St to Harding Avenue. Follow Blacksburg Road until Route 311, then take the ramp onto I-81 N. Then take exit 162 toward Buchanan, follow signs for Buchanan Swinging Bridge.
What You Should Bring
Please bring some water and snacks for the road and anything else you might need! We will plan to stop for restrooms/food before and after our time on the Parkway.
